Ricardo Silva is considered by many to be one of the new heroes of the Portuguese fado guitar who has a stunning playing technique. He started playing guitar at the age of seven, and was influenced by his father, his first grand master. At the age of 14 he officially debuted as a Portuguese guitar player. He won the 1st prize at the Grande Noite do Fado in Lisbon, in the instrumentalist class in 2005. Since then, he has accompanied countless fado singers all over the country and around the world. His musical journey includes special participation and collaborations with such famous artists as Mariza, Jorge Fernando, Marco Rodrigues, Paulo de Carvalho, Ana Laíns, Celina da Piedade, and others. In 2013 he formed a band called Catraia with other musicians, in which he is a composer and song writer; they released two albums in 2014 and 2022. Ricardo Silva released also three succesful solo albums, „Semente“ (2014), „Contado à Guitarra“ (2018) and „A guitarra e as Violas“ (2021). This artist looks for new languages for the traditional Portuguese guitar on all his music projects, which were presented in many concerts and festivals and this summer also at the World Music Festival in Bratislava.
